Council of Governors organizes first ever Innovation and Learning Forum The Council of Governors together the World Bank in collaboration with Ministry of Devolution and Planning and the Kenya School of Government organized an Innovation Forum, where Counties showcased their innovations and learnt best practices from each other.
Inter-governmental meeting on food crisis situation in the country In view of the current food crisis in Kenya, the Council of Governors and the National Government convened an urgent meeting at Delta Towers.

Land, Planning and Urban Development Committee Consultative Meeting on the National addressing System The Council of Governors in conjunction with the Communications Authority organised a stakeholders’ forum to review the National Addressing System (NAS) Policy. NAS is a framework that provides for among other things naming/numbering of streets, numbering of properties/parcels of land and or buildings to facilitate the identification and location of a parcel or dwelling on the ground.
Inter-Governmental consultative forum on gender The Council of Governors jointly with the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs organized the Intergovernmental Forum on Gender held from 6th – 7th June, 2017 at Enashipai Resort and Spa, Naivasha. The forum was aimed at addressing issues of policy, legislative, programs/projects and coordination mechanism.

Council of Governors Grace 70th World Health Assembly

Council of Governors was represented at the 70th World Health Assembly to discuss the global health agenda in Geneva, Switzerland from May 22-31. The Council of Governors was represented by CEC Kisumu County Dr. Elizabeth Ogaja and Council of Governors Acting Director of Health Mugambi Laibuta, who is also the Director of Legal Affairs. Council of Governors statement on the stalled division of revenue bill

1. The Council of Governors takes great exception to the current impasse relating to the Division of Revenue Bill 2017. As it stands, the Bill is yet to be passed by parliament. This means the County Revenue Allocation Bill 2017 cannot be debated and passed.
2. Without a County Revenue Allocation Act 2017 County Governments cannot develop their Budgets for the 2017/2018 Financial Year.
3. This Situation will paralyse the operations of all County Governments. In turn, service delivery will be completely halted including health care services starting 1st July 2017.
4. The National Assembly has continuously disregarded proposals on County allocation from all Key institutions including the National Treasury, Senate, Council of Governors and Commission on Revenue Allocation. The National Assembly has reverted to the Division of Revenue Bill 2017 with a KES 291 Billion allocation for Counties instead of KES 314 Billion.

Council of Governors statement on Nurses strike 7th June 2017

1.The Council of Governors is saddened by the fact that in many counties, members of the Nurses Union have withdrawn their services from public health facilities. This has occasioned untold suffering and death of many innocent Kenyans. 2.As the strike rages, the Kenya National Union of Nurses has not registered a dispute with any of the 47 County governments who are employers of the Nurses. Further, no County government received any legal notice of the impending industrial action. The Union having not done so and not followed industrial relations procedures in relation to disputes renders the strike action illegal. 3.Further, the Nurses have gone on strike prematurely as the negotiations to conclude a CBA were at an advanced stage and are yet to be concluded. Fruitful negotiations can only be concluded once the Nurses report back to work. 4.The Council of remains committed in good faith to the finalization of the CBA and will adhere to the direction given by the Salaries and Remuneration...

National and County Government statement on Nurses strike, 5th June 2017

1. The negotiations on the Nurses Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Nurses Union and the Joint National and County governments negotiating team have been ongoing since December 2016. 2. The negotiations have been carried out in good faith. All parties have been in constant discussions to finalise he Nurses CBA as agreed last year in a Return to Work Formula. 3. Both levels of Government remain committed to ensuring improved working conditions for all health workers. 4. The negotiation parties have a concluded a draft CBA. 5. The concluded draft CBA was forwarded to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission for guidance and for SRC to issue a 'no objection' letter in relation to the content of the draft CBA. 6. Once SRC makes a pronouncement on the matter, County governments will go ahead and sign the CBA with the Nurses Union. 7. The Government (National and County) is following due process to ensure that the CBA is signed and that it shall not have any legal challenges...
