Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board pays a courtesy call to CoG over reclassification of hospitals across 47 Counties

Council of Governors Chairman H.E Peter Munya (Right) shares a light hearted moment with Medical Practioners and Dentist Board Chairman Professor George Magoha (Middle) when they paid a courtesy call at the Council of Governors offices at Delta Corner.Officials of the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) and Ministry of Health (MOH) paid a courtesy visit to Council of Governors Chairman H.E Peter Munya at Delta Corner offices.

The team, which is recategorizing hospitals across 47 Counties, was led by Medical Practioners and Dentist Board Chairman Professor George Magoha and Board’s CEO Daniel Yumbya. During the visit, Professor Magoha apologised to County Governments for failing to hold the meeting with H.E Munya earlier to clarify on why the government was reclassifying hospitals. The meeting was also attended by Council of Governors acting CEO and Director of Programs, Sharon Makena, Directors Eunice Fedha, Mugambi Laibuta and Andrew Teyie
“The meeting should have happened earlier. If it did, certain misunderstanding would not be there. I want to assure you that there is nothing sinister about this exercise. You all know me,” says Professor Magoha. Professor Magoha says that the aim of the exercise is to register all health facilities countrywide, which will subsequently help NHIF in payment. Professor Magoha assured H.E Munya that the information gathered will not be acted upon until there is a tripartite meeting, which will involve the Counties.
H.E Munya asked the Board to go ahead with the exercise. He stated that the matter had not been explained well leading to objection by the County Governments.
