GVN KiraituGovernor Kiraitu Murungi unveiled the 21-member ward development committees that will push his administration’s development agenda in the villages across the county.
While campaigning in the August polls, he promised to take development to the doorsteps of the Meru people through the 20 million per year ward fund model. The fund will be overseen by the all-inclusive committees to be patronized by the area MCA.
“I will work with all stakeholders including the National Government, youth, women, professionals and corporate magnates who had been forgotten in the past to actualize our campaign pledges,” he said.
Governor Kiraitu, who was accompanied by his Deputy Titus Ntuchiu, Members of the Executive and County Assembly spoke strongly on the need for the leaders and citizens to join hands and embark on the development journey. He said such cooperation would present an opportunity to accelerate development in the County.
The Deputy Governor cautioned the committee members against politicking saying their purpose was to offer support to the Government and the MCAs. He added that the procurement for the ward projects would be done at the county level.
Assuring the Governor of their support, the leaders, who included the County Commissioner, said nothing would derail the Make Meru Great Agenda.
