wajir immunization progrmH.E AMB. Mohamed Abdi Mohamud Presided over the launch of 100 days of Rapid Results initiative on immunization at Wajir Afya House.
RRI was launched on 27th June 2018 by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and the President Flagged off cold chain equipments, motor bikes and vehicles to all counties targeting unvaccinated children across the 47 counties.
Here in Wajir County, The Governor launch RRI on immunization for 100 days as from today 9th September 2018 together with equipments procured by the County government and implementing partners geared all for the success of this initiative countywide.
“In line with the my manifesto and President Kenyatta Big 4 agenda, my government is committed to contribute to the achievement of 100% universal health coverage in Wajir County.”
Governor Mohamed Abdi urged county health department to put strategies in place so that our unvaccinated target of the 52% of children are reached and vaccinated.
Wajir County government has made remarkable strides within our first year in office to improving health services for the residents of Wajir County.
“Wajir County health services are more accessible today than before, built more healthcare facilities fully operational to service Wajir County residents on 24/7 basis. We procured advanced hospital equipments and stoked enough medicine. We also increased the budgetary allocation for health.” Added Governor Mohamud.
AMB. Mohamed Abdi thanked all the stakeholders; the National Government through the Ministry of Health, Save the Children, World Bank, UNFPA, UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO), World Vision and The Kenya Red Cross Society for their enormous support towards Wajir County achieving 100% universal health coverage.
Lastly, he called upon Wajir residents to ensure their children are vaccinated by visiting the nearest health facilities and outreach sites within these 100 days.
Present during the launch were; Wajir East MP Hon. Rashid Khasim, Senator Dr. Abdulahi Kabreta, Senator Farhiya Haji County commissioner, CS, CECs, COs, Officials from our development partners, MCAs and Locals.
