press ReleaseMembers of the press,

Citizens of Kenya,

• The Devolution Torch is a mwananchi platform whose sole responsibility is to provide opportunity for mwananchi to share the experiences on the success of devolution.

• The mwananchi will also discuss about the projects in their backyards and also constructively give feedback on what has worked well, what the challenges have been and what they would like to see improved in the future.

• The torch will be received by the inhabitants of the County with the Governor as the head of the County Government accompanied by a child, a person with disability, a woman, a youth and an elderly person.

• The torch will spend 3 days in each County highlighting success stories from mwananchi and thereafter will be handed over at the border of the next County.

• On 6th October we will be launching it in Wajir County and we invite Media to be part of the launch and the devolution torch process.

• After Wajir County the torch will move to Kitui, Makueni, Meru, Kisumu, Vihiga, Kakamega, Trans-Nzoia then Turkana. This will mark the end of the first phase.

• The advertisements and information about the torch movement are up and we welcome the media to follow and be part of highlighting the mwananchi story about devolution.

• This is a build-up to the devolution Conference of 2017 in February, 20th to 24th
