Chairman COGThe Chairman, Council of Governors H.E Peter Munya held a meeting with Elijah Mwandoe CEC Roads &Infrastructure Taita Taveta County, Joel Kairu CEC Roads & Infrastructure Nakuru County to discuss the Counties that will benefit from the proposed Kenya Rural Roads Project (KRRP) which aims at enhancing accessibility in targeted rural areas of selected Counties and the capacity enhancement for rendering sustainability of road investment and maintenance at both National and Local level. The Proposed project consists of two components.


Component 1 (Rehabilitation,Improvement and maintenance of rural roads which involves construction of approximately 2,400km of gravel roads and an additional 250km of bitumen sealed roads carrying low-volume traffic. Component 2 Capacity building and project administration which involves consultancy services for a number of studies,including determination of the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF) allocation criteria. It also involves technical assistance covering capacity building on road maintenance,planning a and management at the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and beneficiary Counties' roads units, as well as capacity building on the Road Sector Investment Programme at Kenya.
