Feeding Program County"In January 2018, my Government will provide school meals program to 216 ECDE Centers with breakfast and lunch. This will boost the nutritional status to enhance enrollment. Stable foundation for our early childhood program will mean guaranteed better academic performance" H.E Governor Ali Roba on 12th December, 2017.
And now "In recognition of the critical role played by nutrition in nurturing, protection and quality care for holistic development of a child to realize his/her full potentials during the early years of life, am pleased to launch the pre-primary learner’s morning porridge and lunch for 34,341 children enrolled in the 216 ECDE centers across the county. The program follows a pledge my administration made last year December to introduce school meals program. We have already dispatched 3,000 bags of rice, 1,200 bags of beans, 4864 bags of unimix (CSB) and 800 cartons of oil. The school meals programme is expected to replenish the energy lost during the trek for those children who school far away from their homes, attract learners to our pre-primary centers and consequently boost enrolment, retention and learning outcomes which otherwise remained dismal. I am optimistic, the programme will go along away in addressing the nutritional needs of our children which will also guard them against numerous childhood disease associated with under nutrition including stunting and wastage in growth.
The program has a direct impact on our children, it will therefore be a priority that shall be a constant feature in the plans of my government for the next five years InshaAllah"
