world urban forumThe 9th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF9) on implementing the "New Urban Agenda" hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia concluded on the 13th February 2018. The great county of Mandera was well represented. "Mandera County government delegation graced the 9th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF9) on implementing the "New Urban Agenda" hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that was concluded today. Governor Ali Ibrahim Roba joined his counterparts Stephen Sang (Nandi county), Patrick Khaemba (Transzoia county), Jackson Mandago (Usain Ngishu county), Lee Kinyanjui (Nakuru county), Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu county), Kiraitu Murungi (Meru county), Stanley Kiptis (Baringo county) and the chairman of Council of Governors Josphat Nanok of Turkana County who is also leading the Kenyan delegates to the conference. The New Urban Agenda lays out the vision for future cities based on the science of urban development providing tools in crucial areas. Mandera Lands CEC Adan Hussein, Chief Officer Finance Alinoor Mohamed and Deputy head of Inter-governmental and donor relations, Susan Gichuhi, are also attending the conference. The forum gathers a wide range of experts who presented best practices on a range of thematic issues related to the new urban agenda. Participants at the Forum include national, regional and local governments, non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, professionals, research institutions and academies, professionals, private sector, development finance institutions, foundations, media and United Nations organizations and other international agencies.
