H E AnyongResidents of the lakeside city of Kisumu turned out in their droves to accord their beloved Governor a grand reception at the Kisumu International Airport following his brief absence from his home county of Kisumu as he had gone for three months medical break in San Francisco, USA. The governor was received by the Clergy, his able Deputy, Dr Matthew Owili, MP for Nyakach, Hon. Aduma Owuor, Women Representative, Ms. Rosa Buyu, Speaker of the Assembly Hon. Onyango Oloo, County Executive Committee members (CECMS), Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) among other county staff.
Investments lineup
Speaking at the Freedom Square Gardens, the governor laid out his plans for the county saying he had talks with investors while abroad, and that their willingness to turn around the county’s fortune was but the beginning of him delivering his pledges. The governor congratulated his deputy and his team for the work well done in his absence. He also thanked the residents for remaining steadfast in their quest for prioritizing development to transform the county into an ideal development center. His key concern was the role village councils play in promoting development and ensuring the people reap the fruits yielded through devolution.
“Village councils will give people the power to decide what is in their best interest and its mandatory for them to maximize their effectiveness once they are set up”, said the governor. The people, he said are integral in the county’s development agenda and that they have a big role to play in aiding progress at the grass roots
Leaders support agenda.
With the County leadership behind him, the governor promised to fulfill his agenda calling on residents to unite efforts in pushing the county forward. Each representative declared unwavering support for the governor as they pledged to work together to achieve on the pledges they made to Kisumu residents.
