NyeriChairman, Council of Governors H.E Peter Munya, during his visit to Nyeri Governor H.E Nderitu Gachagua's Residence in Nyeri County, addressed media on four main agendas. First agenda being the IEBC and Elections. He stated that in preparedness for the upcoming 2017 general elections ,the Council of Governors will host a meeting to discuss the agenda to ensure a free and fair election is observed.

Secondly, was to address the EACC and the perimeters of their mandate. He insisted the EACC should understand their mandate. He added that Governors had no issue with the decentralizing  of EACC services, only that they were hampered with quality and capacity issues in regard to their officers. He further stated that EACC officers needed further training on identification of corruption and interventions.

Thirdly, was on Judges and their ages. He said that the courts have the latitude to determine such issues thus would encourage them to deliberate and determine to avoid conflicts of interest.
Forthly, on Madaraka day celebrations, H.E said that it was upon all Kenyans to celebrate the day as they wish and that the venue shouldn't be a deterrent as Governors host more than 48 Madaraka Day celebrations throughout the country.

Lastly, on MCAs, H.E Peter Munya said they had no issue with the recently concluded MCAs conference as there are no conflicts between them. He did however say that there was indeed an issue between governors and senators on vested interests. Senators are supposed to play the role of oversight although most of them are planning on running for the gubernatorial seat hence has politicized a lot of issues at the Senate.

 

The governors addressed these issues when they visited the Governor of Nyeri County H.E Governor Nderitu Gachagua in his home in Hiriga village, Mathira Constituency. Governor Gachagua has been unwell for a while. Accompanying H.E Peter Munya was the Vice Chairman, Governor Taita Taveta County, H.E John Mruttu, Murang'a Governor H.E Mwangi Wa Iria, Laikipia Governor, H.E Joshua Irungu and Nyandarua Governor H.E Daniel Waithaka.
